"Holding Back" by ARK

Sometimes we block ourselves from the path that we want to take. Sometimes we stop ourselves from being happy or successful by simply holding back.

We pull away just when everything is at an arm's reach.

So what are the things that hold us back? What are the ties we must free ourselves from before we can make it to where we want to be?

 Here's a brief list...

1. Fear of Failure.

I could've said "fear" in general, since all kinds of fears hold us back anyway. But a lot of people seem to be afraid of what's in store for them in the near future, so this particular fear can be a large burden.

You are not afraid of the future. You are probably afraid of all the bad things that can happen to you if you try and fail to achieve what you want in life. You are not alone in this struggle.

Just remember that the first step to taking flight is getting off the ground and spreading your wings. If you're too afraid to reach the sky, maybe you're better off admiring the clouds from where you are.

Swallowing that fear may not be as easy as it sounds, but I do think it would be worth the effort.

2. Expectations.

More specifically --- what other people expect from you.

Remember that expectations are different from responsibilities. Other than the things that you are supposed to be doing in order to keep the balance of nature from tipping to the dark trenches of evil, you should be allowed to do what you want to do.

As cliche as it sounds, that is your life. Do what you want with it, as long as you're not breaking the law. That falls under the "things you're supposed to be doing in order to keep the balance of nature from tipping to the dark trenches of evil."

Don't let them tell you what to do. Choose your road and stick to it. Start your adventure and make every twist and turn you want.

After all, you'll be the one stuck with the ending of your own story.

3. The Voices in Your Head.

So what if you haven't chosen your path yet? So what if you don't think you're ready? So what if you're still afraid of failing?

Your head will fill itself up with questions that can overwhelm you. Just stick to the ones that really need answering and you should be fine.

All the other questions are there only to produce doubt. You must ignore them.

And don't worry, you'll figure it out eventually.

"Superbowl!" by DEV

Though I haven't found a bowl massive enough to be considered 'super' --- I did enjoy Katy Perry's halftime show during this year's Super Bowl!

And here are some of the reasons why Katy Perry's performance rocked...

1. Left Shark

I wanted to put this guy somewhere in the middle of this list. But come on, this shark deserves the top spot! Especially when he stole the spotlight from one of the most popular singers of this generation.

("Yeah, get away from me.")

Let's face it --- he was an awkward, dancing shark. But he was just being himself.

I mean, have you ever seen a dancing shark?

They say that there's someone inside the "costume," but that "someone" probably beat up one of Katy's dancers just to perform in front of a million people.

That's called passion.

2. This Giant Lion

I have no idea how this thing even moved. Not that I bothered to give it much of a thought.

(Oh. I see.)

3. This Beach Ball Dress

Because if a beach ball ever transformed into a living person, this is how I'd want it to look like.

4. This Beach Ball

Because it's adorable.

5. The Dark Horse Performance

I liked the choreography a lot. It had so many flips and stuff. It's so much fun to watch.

But most of all... dancing chess pieces! Anyone? Hello?

6. The California Gurls Performance

Another song with a cute choreography. It features dancing "gurls." I haven't confirmed if they're all from California. They may have lied.

7. "The More You Know"

I swear I wanna ride this thing to work.

They must have spent so much money to make this half time show happen, and a lot more to make sure everything's perfect.

The lights and sounds were spectacular, and the dance moves were crazy, but we all know the real reason people enjoyed this performance.

It's because of the star.

"Speaking Out" by ARK

Yesterday I reached a milestone that I am particularly proud of.

I finally spoke out against someone who has been causing me so much stress, to the point where my patience had reached its peak.

That person tested me until I realized I did not deserve to be treated that way.

I'm one of the most patient people I know.

Also, I hate conflict. I avoid it as much as possible.

But when this person came along and showed me how much I could take, I decided to speak out.

Needless to say, I gained an enemy yesterday. One who didn't think twice about playing the victim. One who decided that I am "rude," "obnoxious" and "difficult."

Ironic how those words apply to the same person who used them.

I must say though, that I feel liberated. It's like finally getting over a hurdle. It's like flying away.

It's like finally recognizing the enemy and pulling out your gun after being held hostage for a long time.

It's a brilliant feeling to finally stand up for yourself.

We'll probably be friends again someday, when time heals the wounds. But I won't stop speaking out until that person pulls out the blade.
