"Chill" by POP

So, hello guys. It's me again, Pop, at your service.

So there's been some sorta tension here in Jen's residence. It's still all about Ark's work at this fast food chain. See Ark's been 50:50 about quitting the job, and all Dev says is to go for it. But Ark doesn't want to regret the decision so up to now, his resignation is undecided.

Is it that bad? Well, yeah. Apparently. Dev here stopped going to work, and he's refusing to blog until Ark does too. Ark told him that he already resigned, but the manager wants him to stay until June 15. Dev says Ark's decision sucks.

So everybody here's stressed out. Max the alien went out for a while to do some "research." Cat Pig won't eat his food, and Dug stopped barking.

I feel everyone's getting pretty lonely. So just to ease the aura a bit, here are a few of the songs I listen to whenever I'm feeling down:

1. "Shake It Out" by Florence and the Machine

-> I discovered this ultimate feel good song during a sad moment in my life. The timing was perfect. I fell in love with the song. And I swear I answered "Shake It Out" when a friend of mine asked me which song I would choose if only one song played on the radio.

 2. "Cough Syrup" by Young the Giant

-> Discovered this song on the hit TV show Glee (and by the way, Dev and Ark are Gleeks too. That's awesome. Or as Dev would say it: "awesomazing.") I like the original one better though.

3. Some Pop Songs

-> Okay. This one's a bit weird. But instead of wallowing in sadness, I just listen to the usual music I listen to, and I would feel okay afterwards. It's all about boosting your own mood after all.

4. Some Love Songs

-> Hmm... That's just because love is a great feeling. It's an emotion that everyone can relate to, and we can all agree that love numbs all of our senses, right? Yeah, sometimes even pain.

5. "People Like Us" by Kelly Clarkson

-> This one's sorta new. It's another pop song. But it's got a motivational message, which I think I will get more attached to as I listen to it.

"Real Life Happens" by ARK

To hear myself swear and complain a lot (whether only in my head or to another person) is something very unusual...if not, it's very new.

But I'm living in a new world right now. And to survive this new world, I must come up with new solutions.

My brain is adapting...or at least it's trying very hard to.

If you compare me to the Ark a few weeks ago, you would see two very different angels. You'll still see the same old confident creature who is sensitive and in touch with his feelings. But this time you'll notice that he's grown himself some fangs (metaphorical fangs, if you may.)

He has learned to identify whatever's been making him feel bad, and pinpoint the lowly human who made him feel that.

I am just pacing myself, for I have only been having a taste of what it is like out there...in the real world, which we are soon about to face.

Upon graduation from college, I will be having to face these sort of troubles FULL TIME. I might as well prepare myself for what is coming.

The world is full of people I will not like so much. And yes, I will still be Ark and I will still attempt to be nice to them. Only now, I know that putting too much effort into these people is not worth it. I don't want to lose the vase of my sanity over people who will not even look back to pick the pieces up.

I have grown fangs to defend myself. I am no longer simply feeling. I am fighting for what I am feeling. If it gains me enemies, so be it. That's the real world. Eat up, or get eaten up.

Is it too obvious that I am having troubles at work? Yes, I have been. And I still currently am facing these dilemmas. I feel like I have no true ally ('cause even Dev stopped going to work, calling everybody douche bags before resigning.)

But am I gonna quit? Probably. But for now, I would like to stick with what I have. Not for the money. Human currency do not mean much to us angels. But I am learning a lot. And I feel that by the time I graduate, I would have already gotten used to the humans of the "real world."

Besides, am I going to let them win? Will I let them weigh me down, and drag me to the ground? I know when to quit, and that time has not yet come. So until then I will try my best to survive these crushing life lessons, and allow them to mold me into the best angel I could be.

So help me God.

"Happy Anniversary!" by DEV and ARK

DEV: Dude, that's a really gay title.

ARK: Cat Pig ran all over the keyboard, and that title was made.

DEV: Oh. 'cause really, we're brothers, not husband and wife. And that would be inse... insects.

ARK: You mean incest?

DEV: Yeah.

ARK: Okay. So anyway, happy anniversary to our blog! We have been blogging for a year!

DEV: And look, we've been here on Earth for a year too!

ARK: Yes. I'm so glad we met all these cool new friends.

DEV: I kinda learned stuff too.

ARK: Like what?

DEV: Like, why girls go to bathrooms together.

ARK: That's...good, Dev. At least you gained something from the previous year. And now, we must focus on making this second year even better.

DEV: Yeah! It's like Dev and Ark Season 2!

ARK: Umm...okay...

DEV: We're like stars now!

ARK: But we wouldn't have made it this long...

DEV: --our attention span wouldn't have lasted this long...

ARK: If it wasn't for YOU GUYS! Thank you so much for a wonderful year.

DEV: Thanks for forcing yourselves to read Ark's boring, selfish rants!

ARK: ...and all of Dev's crazy.

DEV: We love you guys!

Things You Didn't Know: "DEV and ARK"

Today, we celebrate an entire year of Dev and Ark. And so, as the genius cat who knows everything in this world, I present to you the trivial facts you never knew about Dev, Ark and the Guests.

1. Dev and Ark was conceptualized during one "creatively-fueled night." Kent Michael Hansen felt the urge to do something new, and ended up creating a comic strip called Dev and Ark. Eventually, he decided to make it a blog instead.

2. Ark was originally planned to be a drunk, lonely angel who had a pessimistic view of the world. Dev was supposed to be a businessman (which explains the bow tie). And yes, only Dev was supposed to have the bow tie.

3. Cat Pig was a colorless sketch Kent Michael Hansen made when he was in high school. He found it cute, saved it, only to scan and recreate it into Cat Pig years later. That was my origin, ladies and gentlemen.

4. Jen's new look was mostly designed by the real Jen, which is Kent Michael Hansen's real world sister, Denise Mikaela Hansen.

5. As for the dog...Kent Michael Hansen drew that monstrosity when he reached college. Notice how our creator's artistic skills went down significantly over the years.

(Fig.1 (top left) amazingly drawn image of cat; (bottom right) not so amazingly drawn image of another animal I could not recognize but is considered a "dog".)

6. Kent Michael Hansen is nicknamed by his real world friends as "Shark." This explains the concept behind Ark's friend, Fin.

(oh. really?)

7. The short stories "Little Turtle" by ARK and "Little Canary" by ARK have several symbolism. Read them again and see if you can figure it out.

(fool! I said Canary, not Penguin. Know your animals.)

8. None of the characters in Dev and Ark have numerical ages.

"Panic!" by POP

Hello there, blogosphere! Pop here.

As I promised to Dev and Ark, I will show them a thing or two about passion. And as many of my fans know, for me that's music.

Hmm... let's see.

These past few days I've been listening to a rock band called Panic! At The Disco. Their sound really reminds me of the carnival scene.

So instead of talking about it, I'll show you some of my favorite Panic! At The Disco songs (so far!)

"Nearly Witches"
-> I think this song's weird. But weird in a really good way. It's almost theatrical too. It starts off sounding like a Christmas carol, and ends like a show tune. As I said...weird.

"Stall Me"
-> I feel like covering this song. That's how much I like it. Well at first I didn't really appreciate it, but when I got to the chorus, I just couldn't get it out of my head. I have got to do a cover of this song.

"Lying is the Most Fun A Girl Can Have Without Taking Her Clothes Off"
-> Okay, typing this song's title drained me. Can't say much about it anymore. LOL. It's got a catchy tune. But I still don't get how the title's related to the song...

"The Only Difference"
-> Let's just say I chose to put the shorter title here 'cause it's got a longer one than the song above. Now THIS has a really catchy chorus. It's real fun to sing out loud. :)

Panic! At the Disco has a really cool collection of songs from all three of their albums so far. Personally, I don't like a lot of the songs from their second album "Pretty. Odd." The first and the third ones are great, so I'm looking forward to their upcoming fourth album. :)

"Pop Star!" by DEV and ARK

[And the story continues with Dev and Ark happily discussing their blog's oncoming anniversary.]

ARK: ...come to think of it, Dev, we've been running this blog for almost a year now, and I must say a lot of funny things have happened to us and our human friends.

DEV: Heck, we even made alien friends.

ARK: Yes we did!

DEV: ...and fish friends too.

ARK: Within the year you got yourself two pets.

DEV: And then I found out that Jen totally grew up.

ARK: Yeah, you probably shouldn't have called the cops.

DEV: Well, who the f*ck knew that humans change their appearance every once in a while?

ARK: That's what they call aging. See? We wouldn't have learned that if we did not visit Earth.

DEV: Hey, it was MY IDEA to fall from the Heavens.

ARK: Okay, so I must admit that it was a pleasant idea.

DEV: What else do ya' expect? My ideas are always awesomazing.

ARK: So anyway, brother, did you hear about Jen's friend? The pop star?

DEV: No. What's up?

ARK: Jen said her friend will come visit us today.

DEV: Is this guy famous or something? 'cause I can see 'bout a hundred people outside our window screaming this guy's name.

ARK: Yes. That is what a pop star is, Dev.

DEV: What the heck's a pop star? Is that some sorta cereal?

ARK: No, brother. It's what humans call a person who creates music and gets famous for it.

DEV: Psssh. I can sing better than anyone. Why don't I get to have hundreds of screaming fans adore me?

ARK: I do not know. But trust me, Dev, I bet that kind of life is just stressful.

DEV: Who the heck cares? As long as I'm famous, no one can stress me out!

ARK: Actually, it's the opposite of what you're thinking...

JEN: Hey guys! Pop is here!

DEV: His name is Pop? And he's a POP star? Okay, so THAT's why I don't have fans like him. My name's frickin' Dev, not Pop.

ARK: It has nothing to do with the name. I would bet the man's very talented and hardworking.

JEN: You'll bet he is. Max helped me cloak him with his invisibility ray, so the fans won't kill us with excitement. And now here he is, Pop!

POP: Hey Dev! Hey Ark!

ARK: Hello.

DEV: Yeah, hi.

POP: Jen told me a lot about you two, and I must say you're very interesting. I'm a fan of your blog.

DEV: Well, we are pretty cool.

ARK: It's an honor that you read our blog, Mr. Pop.

POP: Please, call me Pop.

JEN: He's here on a vacation. He's staying here for a while so he could get away from it all.

POP: Yeah, Jen's right. I do need a bit of rest.

ARK: (to DEV) I told you, the glamorous life isn't what it is cut out to be.

DEV: Don't care. Not listening. So Pop, you said you read our blog.

POP: Yes. You guys are hilarious.

ARK: Actually my posts are rather serious...

DEV: So anyway, can you like teach us how to get famous like you? I wanna benefit from your visit. Before you leave this household, you must teach us the secrets of fame!

JEN: Don't hostage our guest!

POP: No, no. It's alright Jen. I get where he's coming from. So Dev, instead of showing you how to get famous, why not let me show you what made me famous? I'll tell you what it is right now: MUSIC. Music's my life. It's my passion. I got famous, only 'cause I loved what I was doing.

DEV: Yeah...so can we get to the part where you tell us the secrets of fame?

ARK: No, Pop. It's alright. Do tell us more about your passion.

POP: Alright, then. Will you guys let me post on your blog too?

ARK: Sure.

POP: I'll be posting stuff about music in general, and what I love about it. Hopefully, so it rubs off to you guys.

DEV: And will that make me famous?

POP: Depends on how you work for it. I mean, if music's not your thing, it won't work. Go find your passion and fulfill it.

DEV: Meh...

ARK: Thank you so much Pop! I bet you'll enjoy your stay here.

JEN: Yey! More people!
