"85%" by ARK

I read that if everybody likes you, then you are probably doing something wrong.

According to the article, only 85% percent of any certain group of people you are with is supposed to like you. Otherwise, you might be trying too hard to impress everyone. And that's not good...for you.

Pleasing everyone may cause you to lose your individuality in all the selflessness. You might come off as a pushover, or your own needs won't probably be met. At least, according to the article, which I could not find in my browsing history, so I could not provide the link for you. But that's basically all it says.

I've been considering this for the past few days.

Working at a fast food chain requires me to deal with a lot of different people. That's no different from any situation in life. Since no man is an island, you WILL have to interact with others somehow...no matter how much you hate their attitude.

And yes, they hate you too.

But that doesn't matter much when you take into consideration the 85% rule I was talking about, does it? You come across someone who dislikes you and just deem him or her as part of that little population. It's not like you're making enemies. You're just not dusting up their pathway into your personal garage.

Whoever enters is welcome. If you do not like what you see, then close your eyes. As simple as that.

And then again, it's not always that simple. There are people who don't like you, whom you don't like back, and whom you just wish would just agree to disagree. But no, there are people who don't like your presence, and think that they should make you feel it until you are erased from their world.

You can't just disappear from the universe every time you come across someone like this. Look, the 15% of people who don't like you can be a weird bunch of nasty people who deserve a good punch in the stomach, face and groin every once in a while. But running away from them won't do you any good.

Just think of the people who DO appreciate you. There are people who would accept you and help you out. And the best part is you don't have to kiss their feet just so they would. They love you, and so they will help you out without hesitation.

The 85% rule. Bow.

Remember, to every rule, there is an exception (one of these exceptions might find its way into my blog someday). This is just a simple reminder to live your life without worries. Life is stressful enough. Ease your burden by not letting them weigh you down.

And appreciate those who joined the 85% club. :)
