What’s the point of doing everything we’re doing now?
What is this road we’re taking, where is it leading us, and why
is it taking us there?
Nobody can see the future, and therefore, nobody could ever answer
those questions. But they say we are the ones who build our futures. That, I could
say is real. Truth is there is no road. Or at least, it’s not yet finished. The
road we are taking is not complete. The direction we are following is not permanent.
It’s under construction…it’s under our construction.
I say, we must be careful where we lay our cement. We should
take notice of the path we our creating. We must plan our actions so that we
may reach our so-called “futures”.
I read once that a person may live different lives. The future
we have is varied, and it all depends on what choices we make and what decisions
we stick to.
We are the only ones who can answer those questions above: Where
do you want to go? What are you doing now? What is it for? How will it help
your future? How well are you building that road?
Another confusing fact: There is no destination. There is no
definite time or place where we can say: “I’ve reached my destination.”Even at life’s
end, we do not know what lies ahead. We can never tell which “the end” is. Even
if you reach your dreams, you will still begin to want something else. That’s human
life.
I think what truly matters is where we want to be at this very
moment. Here I am blogging. This is what I want to so right now. Later, I will
probably watch Dev as he plays with his new Playstation. That is the near-future
for me. About long-term goals, I guess I will stick to what I have been doing
for quite some time: studying. That has been my life’s direction for a while.
As for VERY long-term goals…I do have plans. But circumstances
change…life itself changes. Opportunities for me would constantly be coming and
going. I will try to catch up with them, thus changing the direction of my destiny. To say it simply: I know where I want to go, and I have an idea how to get
there. But what matters to me now is making the most of my journey, and opening
myself up to change.
I have met a lot of people (for I have always been interested
in people.) and have seen visions of their directions.
Some are determined to reach what they’ve been working on
for years.
Some are unsure of where they want to go.
Some are on a certain track, but does not really enjoy being
there.
Some used to be uncomfortable with where they stood, but have
learned to love it.
Sometimes when I come across strangers in sidewalks, I think
to myself: “so many faces, so many names, so many stories…” I can’t quite believe
how well our roads overlap. We come across people whose direction is so clear
that we decide to follow it.
But we must remember that we are on Earth for a reason. We
live for a special purpose. It is up to us to find what that is.
