I have postponed my observations regarding human behavior to
keep track of this little upcoming event that the humans call “Halloween”. It
is celebrated every 31st of October (that is counted using human “months”)
---> this is a "pumpkin". A human vegetable carved into scary faces during Halloween.
According to human website known as Wikipedia, “Halloween or
Hallowe'en (a contraction of its original title "All Hallows'
Evening"), also known as All Hallows' Eve, is a yearly holiday observed
around the world”.
This is when Earthlings celebrate their mortal weaknesses:
by inducing fear upon themselves. They put on “costumes” resembling horrifying
creatures. To my opinion, these “creatures” are not even half as terrifying as Mars monsters , but well, I do not expect to see
scary creatures in a watery world such as Earth. The things that scare humans
are so mild that I have once again proven human inferiority. I cannot begin to
imagine how they would react to my planets monsters.
Despite the fact that they are terrified of such mild monsters, I will acknowledge that Halloween is a celebration of human’s inner vulnerabilities. In addition, they look rather amusing in those costumes. They look rather cute.
What I could not put my mind to is WHY these Earthlings choose to
do so. Why do they bother scaring themselves? And another thing that confuses me
is that I have not seen a single creature that they are trying to portray,
anywhere in the world. I have done a planetary scan, and failed to locate a
single one of these “monsters”.
Humans also believe in “ghosts” which are spiritual manifestations
of themselves. According to human legend, humans become ghosts after they…die.
If this is true, then humans must be more dangerous than they seem. If we, Martians, kill them and they turn into ghosts, it
will surely be a problem for all of us. They will be capable of fighting even
after they have already died. But like other creatures that humans fear, I have
not detected a single ghost on this planet.
What twisted mentality do these Earthlings have, and why do they
celebrate things they fear, moreover, things that do not seem to exist? My
fascination for these humans is continually growing.
Anyway, “Happy Halloween”, to you Martians back
there. I miss being there. Perhaps we could celebrate Halloween too, once I get
back from this mission?
