"Defining Xmas" by ARK

What does Christmas mean to me?

I don't know what Dev feels about it, but I for one love this holiday. It is obviously my favorite. And now that I feel the Christmas spirit, I have the energy to blog about it. :)

What I love about Christmas:

1. Ti's' the season to smile idiotically at colorful lights. We do not care who's watching. When we see a brilliant house decorated in bright Christmas lights, we can't help but smile. This is the season when we can do so without being reprimanded.

2. Ti's the season to be jolly indeed. The magic of Christmas comes with the infectious joy that the air carries. People smile more often, they laugh more often, and they even spend more even if their wallets are practically empty.

3. Ti's the season to receive gifts. Yes, a shallow reason for loving Christmas is loving the presents. But let's not pretend we don't like it. I like the excitement that mysterious gift wrappers bring. For me, it's really the thought that counts when opening presents. Especially if you did not expect one at all. Christmas surprises are, as Dev would say it, "awesomazing."

4. Ti's the season to love. During this cold part of the year, we celebrate all forms of love, not only the romantic ones. We celebrate family love, friendly love, and even stranger love. It's not about getting cheesy. We celebrate real love while awaiting the birth of the infant that loved us all.

5. Ti's the season for good nights of sleep. In this neighborhood, heat is usually dominant. But during Christmas, a sudden cold mist engulfs everything, making it very easy to fall asleep. The days when you have to stay away from your blanket because of the hot summer night is temporarily replaced. I mean, cold is much bearable than heat. You simply add a layer of clothing if you feel cold. And you cannot peel your skin off if you feel too hot.

6. Ti's the season for Santa Claus. Though I do not really care about him, nor do I recall ever believing his existence. It's just nice to see some kids who still believe in him. Nowadays, children are in a hurry to grow up. And it's just good to remember that they're still children after all. Mr. Claus, I commend you for that.
